This Silver Angel hit-or-miss engine was built by Pamela Weiss. The Silver Angel is a fairly popular engine that was originally designed by the late Bob Shores of Florida. It’s a vertical, air-cooled, hit-or-miss gasoline engine with a bore and stroke of .750”. The engine was built from bar stock and stands 5.6”-high, 3.7”-wide, and 4.3”-long. It features an overhead valve operated by a rotary cam from a vertical camshaft.

Engine speed is controlled by a flyball governor and has a crankcase pressure controller that maintains a slight negative crankcase pressure to prevent oil leaks. The flywheel is 3.7” in diameter. This engine is what Bob Shores called “Open Technology,” as all moving parts can be seen. When properly made and tuned, the engine is easy to start and will run for long periods of time–making it an excellent exhibition engine.
