This dollhouse scene built by Anita Kirwan is entitled, “Rose Cottage.” The miniature is on loan courtesy of the San Diego Miniature Crafters Association. In both real life and miniature work, Anita had a knack for mixing together the things she loved with her mini decor. Rose Cottage is a great example of her love for garden themed decor and a good bag of soil.

As with all of Anita’s miniatures, there are subtle nods to her personal life here and there. The plants are all of her favorites, and the teapots compliment her love of teas. You have to look closely to see the naughty cat. The feisty Siamese has found his way to the top shelf and threatens to knock things over while stretching out. Anita had a cat just like this one, only with 24 toes!

This welcoming shop is unique in its use of all available space. Just imagine walking through and having to watch your head under the hanging plants, and being sure not to step on the dog! From garden flip-flops to seed packets and picnic baskets, this mini shop is fun to browse.
