This small dollhouse room built by Jackie Hoefert is entitled, “Grandma’s Toy Shop.” It’s on loan courtesy of the San Diego Miniature Crafters Association. For a time, the National Association of Miniature Enthusiasts sponsored a contest for the cleverest use of Hallmark ornaments. Grandma’s Toy Shop was a part of one of those campaigns.

Jackie built the box and interior fixtures, carefully adding finishing details including wallpaper and arch trim. In addition to the small Hallmark ornaments, this was the perfect project to include Jackie’s collection of toys and stuffed animals. These include tractors, trains, kiddie cars, doodle art, giraffes, and a piggy bank. Viewers need to look closely to find the tiny yoyo.

Growing up in San Diego, Jackie Hoefert was always interested in tiny things. She joined the San Diego Miniature Crafters in 1997 and began as a one-inch scale miniaturist, but soon began working in tiny 1/4”=1’ scale.
