This dollhouse built by Buff Greaney is entitled, “Buff’s Corner General Store.”  The miniature is on loan courtesy of the San Diego Miniature Crafters Association. Buff built the General Store as part of a club project for 1:12 scale work. She put it in the bay windows of a storefront for display. The project represents a general store in the Midwest from around the 30s and 40s, set in the winter around the holidays.

Buff crafted a place where everyone went to meet and talk, and old men sat idly around the fire. She noted that she doesn’t always get everything right with her builds, but when everything is finished she really feels like she has accomplished something that is uniquely her own. Buff remarked that there will never be another one like it, and even if she teaches someone else, it will still be different.

Buff is a Chicago native who came to San Diego via Naples, Italy and Sugarloaf Key, where she was busy as a Naval wife and mother–and owner of a pet monkey! Always imaginative and creative, Buff enjoyed a couple of art classes in college and later took interior decorating classes for fun. Her work life was detail oriented, and she retired as a technical writer for instructions/manuals on assembling computer components.

Buff has an unleashed imagination that embraces an expressive and often humorous spirit. She is a mentor to many miniaturists, and always encourages original ideas while embracing resourcefulness.
