This dollhouse miniature built by Jackie Hoefert is entitled, “Wedding Day.”  The miniature is on loan courtesy of the San Diego Miniature Crafters Association. The perfect wedding day spills from this lovely heart shaped box with miniatures made and collected for the love-struck bride.

Workshops are popular ways for miniaturists to share know-how and learn tips and techniques to carry out the centuries long tradition of miniature making. This bridal themed box was made during a multi-day workshop. Interestingly, while all participants start with the same materials and learn the same techniques, no two projects are the same. Miniaturists bring a personal touch and artistic flair to everything they make!

The tiny detail of the lace is remarkable as it fits the scale of the project. Can you smell the sweetness from the piped in details of the layered cake? From the fragrant bouquet to the heirloom jewelry, this is a wedding day preserved in the memories of the bride in 1:12 scale.

Growing up in San Diego, Jackie Hoefert was always interested in tiny things. She joined the San Diego Miniature Crafters in 1997 and began as a one-inch scale miniaturist, but soon began working in tiny 1/4”=1’ scale.
