This single-cylinder, 4-cycle, air-cooled hit-n-miss engine was designed by Bob Shores. Mr. Shores was the recipient of the 2004 Joe Martin Foundation Lifetime Achievement Award, and his Silver Angel design is a popular build with model engineers. The engine has a 3/4” bore and stroke, and displaces .30 cubic inches. It runs on gasoline with a little WD-40 mixed in for lubrication. The engine takes a spark plug with a 1/4-32 thread. Mr. Randall’s rendition was machined from billet stock except for the brass flywheel, which was a casting offered by Mr. Shores as an option.
