On Saturday, August 12, the Miniature Engineering Craftsmanship Museum welcomed visitors from both the San Diego Fine Woodworkers Association (SDFWA) as well as the North County Cruisers Car Club. Members from both groups arrived for a tour of the museum, and the parking lot filled up with classic cars, making for a beautiful summer day. Visitors were also treated to a presentation by Donald Riley, an SDFWA member and MECM exhibitor, who spoke about the construction process behind his fantastic music boxes.
Mr. Riley is in the process of building a new “Circus Theater” music box, which he had on display to help explain some of the mechanisms and building techniques. We are fortunate to have several of Mr. Riley’s music boxes currently on display, so this was a unique opportunity for visitors to learn more about the man and the methods behind these impressive machines. We thank members of both the SDFWA and the North County Cruisers for visiting the Miniature Engineering Craftsmanship Museum and sharing their expertise and enthusiasm for fine craftsmanship.
