March 6, 2020 Built by Wilbur Henry Dexter in the late 1940s or early 1950s, this miniature replica of a six-inch South Bend lathe was a working model driven by a small electric motor inside the cabinet. |

January 15, 2020 Phil’s Mean Streak just arrived at the museum. This airplane was modeled after the Strato Streak, one of several small free flight gas models designed by Hungarian immigrant Louis Garami in the late '30s/early '40s. |

November 13, 2019 Introducing Chris Rueby, an excellent craftsman in many areas including ship models and full-size boats, clocks and steam engines. He indulges his artistic side building furniture and display cases and carving birds and animals in wood and stone. |

November 1, 2019 We recently added a number of John A. Ackerman's fire apparatus to the museum's exhibits. John has been building / collecting miniature fire apparatus since he was 6 years old. This new exhibit documents John's progression as a model builder from his earliest works through some of his most recent projects. |

2019 1958 Miss Bardahl Unlimited Hydroplane Racing Boat built by Ellsworth Orr. The Miss Bardahl U-40 raced for two seasons, 1958 & 1959. Ellsworth received plans for Miss Bardahl from a fiend however, the plans were missing dimensions. |

August 27, 2019 Two versions of the Charles W. Morgan built by retired Navy Chief Bob Learman. Bob built a variety of different models over the years but these were his pride & joy. The scale of the larger ship is 5/16 inch to one foot with virtually every part hand made to match the real ship. |

June 8, 2019 A few months ago we told you about a new article on our website about a miniature Holbrook lathe. Today we are very happy to announce that the lathe is now on display at the museum in Carlsbad, CA. Now you can come see this wonderful piece of miniature engineering in person. |

May 15, 2019 While his career was working on radar systems for 30 years, Russell Anderson's real passion was building scale models of old engines and other machines that he had worked on when he was growing up on the farm. He particularly liked building engines that had external moving parts. |

April 19, 2019 Built by Mike Rapp, we just added his RC model of the WWII SBD bomber to the museum's exhibits. The SBD was the United States Navy's main carrier-based scout/dive bomber from mid-1940 through mid-1944. |

Our friends from the Checkered Flag Club of the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles made a trek down from L.A. to visit the museum and take in some of the other San Diego area attractions. April 20, 2018 This is one of the oldest models we've seen and in great condition. It was built around 1890 by Thomas Walton in England and passed down from generation to generation. His Great Grandson, Fred Leonard has graciously offered to display this fine piece of craftsmanship at the museum. |

August 9, 2018 Donated last year, we finally completed our new electrified display space to house the Miniature Mansion along with several other electrified miniatures. The Miniature Mansion, built by Karl Pohlmann and donated to the museum by Margaret Wheeler (daughter) is a scratch built doll house with scratch built furnishing throughout and a roof covered in 1,800 individually hand crafted shingles. |

August 10, 2018 We just added a highly modified 240Z HotWheels car built by Mark Bracewell to the museum display area. While racing his own cars, Mark took a liking to the 240Z race car owned and driven by his friend Cliff Koehler. So Mark went about building his 240Z Tribute car, customizing a 240Z HotWheels car to recreate the look of Cliff’s interior and exterior. |

August 11, 2018 Check out our brand new chopper motorcycle. Built by Kenneth Roger Casey, the Chopper is 26 inches long standing 12 inches tall. It's made from Walnut and Figure Maple and won 1st place at the 2007 Del Mar Fair in San Diego. |

2018 The San Diego Woody Club made a day of it at the Craftsmanship Museum including a special treat for anyone visiting the museum; Jim Kipp (Woody Club member) brought in one of his scratch built Black Widow V8 engines. |

November 17, 2018 On his way to setting a land speed record for electric RC cars, Nic Case built the SR11 which was clocked at over 170mph. In 2012, Nic set the Guinness and ROSSA speed record at 171mph. As of 2018, the current record with his RC Bullet design is 202mph. |

November 27, 2018 Manufactured by Cox, this replica of the #8 Karl Kling’s 1954 Cox Racer Grand Prix Mercedes W-196 is a rear wheel drive tether car utilizing a drive-shaft and differential and powered by a Cox model Tee Dee .049 engine. Manufactured at the Cox plant in Santa Ana, California, this is the last W-196 tether car made at the end of the limited one-year production run in 1961. |

November 30, 2018 Kay Tillman built this CASE Steam Engine Tractor with memories of growing up on the family farm in Iowa. By 4 years old he already had regular chores to do around the farm and was driving tractors and farm trucks by the time he was 10. He remembered the CASE tractor for its legendary power. |

December 11, 2018 Dan Fountain dropped by the museum to tell us about his reversible hot air engine invention and asked us if we’d like to demonstrate it in our shop. We are very pleased to announce that we’ve now got one on display and it’s been a big hit with our visitors. |
