The late Jerome Griego had built models all his life, but this one was an exceptional challenge. The Saturn V Apollo 11 rocket was built from a model kit purchased at a hobby store. However, the mobile launch unit (MLU) was built from scratch using only reference photographs, which Jerome had to scale down by eyesight. The MLU is made of wood, wire, plastic, toothpicks, straight pins, and window screen. The model rocket and MLU are ripe with miniature details. The model was donated by Lenore Griego in honor of Mr. Jerome Griego, July 16, 1949—December 8, 2020.
