Carl Schwam started using machine tools his father bought for him when he was very young, and went on to become an accomplished machinist and tool & die maker. Carl later went to school to become a mechanical engineer. His miniature steamboat is modeled after an English Canal boat. This 50″-long boat is radio controlled and was run by Carl in San Diego. Carl made the steam engine first then decided to build a boat for the engine.
