Dennis Fadden, of Canada, owned and operated several airboats and one of his favorite engines was the Franklin 6-cylinder opposed aircraft engine. In the early to mid 2000s, he decided to build a 1/4 scale model of the full-size 150 horsepower Franklin aircraft engine. The cylinders are cast from his homemade patterns, but everything else is machined from aluminum and steel bar stock. It is designed to burn gasoline on dual spark ignition, and it incorporates a pressurized lubrication system just as its full-size counterpart.
