This 1/8 scale Bates and Edmonds 25 HP vertical twin engine was built by Ramon Hoagland, of Colorado, in 2018. Ramon used Doug Kelley’s plans to produce his rendition of the Bates and Edmonds 25 HP engine. The engine was built at 1/8 scale with a bore of 1 inch and a stroke of 1.187 inch. Lacking a camshaft, the valves are activated by eccentrics that pull the rods connected to levers mounted on the cylinder head. It is designed to burn gasoline on spark ignition and swings a pair of 6-1/8 flywheels.
