This wooden model 4-4-8 steam locomotive & tender was built by Eckhard Fadtke. Mr. Fadtke was born in Potsdam, Germany and later served an apprenticeship as a mechanic. After college, he moved to the United States and started a small business where he worked in metal. Eckhard’s interests turned to the natural look and colors of wood, as he enjoys the process of transforming natural patterns into familiar shapes like a bowl, kaleidoscope or railroad locomotive. His works have been displayed in four locations within the Clark County Library system in Nevada.

Eckhard Fadtke (pictured below) owned his own metal working business from 1974 through 2001. After retiring he turned his attention to woodworking.
