Stuart Models provided the castings for this model D10 vertical steam engine. It was built by Alphonse C. Vassallo, of California, in 1968. (Courtesy of Cherise Vassallo, Ingrid Vassallo, Andre Vassallo). It is well suited for stationary and marine work and can achieve speeds of 2000 RPM. Mr. Vassallo machined every part to complete this highly modified version, which incorporates his own custom-designed reversing mechanism. Another personal touch is his use of chrome plating on the fittings, valves, tubing, flanges and other accessory components. The engine is 8.5″-long, 5″-wide, 6″-high, and weighs 4.5 lbs.
