A scale model 1916 American LaFrance chemical car. While serving in the US Army in 1967 at Sandia Base, NM, John made this more detailed 1916 chemical car. The model chemical car was built at 1/32 scale, using basswood and Bristol Board. John Ackerman has been building and collecting miniature fire apparatus since he was 6 years old. His exhibits document the progression as a model builder from his earliest works through some of his most recent projects.
