The actual Twin B fishing boat was built in 1978 by the Sea Way Boat Company in Long Beach, California for Wallace “Bud” Brown & Wilson “Bogie” Bogan. The Twin B was used for both sport fishing and commercial fishing for local fish markets in the Oceanside, California area for almost 40 years.

Over the years, Ellsworth built a great friendship with the boat owners. Being many years his senior, Bud and Bogie became more than just friends—they were mentors who Mr. Orr looked up to. Wanting to honor them, Ellsworth decided to build a model of their boat, taking great pains to get precise measurements of the boat’s hull in order to replicate the exact shape for the 1/12 scale model. The scratch-built Twin B is now on display at the Miniature Engineering Craftsmanship Museum.

The original full-size Twin B was delivered with a 130 hp Volvo Diesel engine and a Volve 280 outdrive & fuel tank. However, all of the steering and electronics were installed by Bud.
