Model Ships
HMS Victory
A model of HMS Victory, a frigate Man O’ War ship. Copper plating was used to keep the hull free from barnacles, which won’t attach to the material.
City of Pekin
Sheridan’s model of the City of Pekin, a canal barge steam ship from 1885. Originally named City of Henry, it was a horse-drawn barge near Chicago. The ship was converted to steam in 1911 and renamed. It operated out of Peoria, IL, linking the Mississippi River to the Great Lakes.
Benjamin W. Latham
The Benjamin W. Latham, a Grand Banks schooner built in 1902. The ship sunk off of Puerto Rico in 1943.
CSS Alabama
The CSS Alabama was a confederate steam/sail combination sidewheel boat built in England in 1882.
CSS Alabama
This ship sailed 67,000 nautical miles in 22 months, sunk 53 ships, and ransomed 11 ships before being sunk in battle versus the USS Kearsarge.
