This King “741” 7-cylinder, two-cycle, air-cooled radial airplane engine was designed and built by Stephen J. King of Florida in 2007. Similar in appearance to the “Gnome” rotary engines of WWI, this two-cycle radial engine has mechanically driven intake valves with a single pushrod in front of each cylinder. It has a bore of .750 inch and stroke of .800 inch, incorporates a high-speed supercharger to increase crankcase pressure for fuel delivery to the cylinders. It runs on glow ignition, but unlike most two-cycle engines this one sports a dry-sump, pressure-fed oil system for internal lubrication, eliminating the need to mix oil with the fuel. The engine is 8″-long, 8″-wide, 9″-high, and weighs 6 lbs. 5 oz.
